Dr. Javier Alejandro Vasallo is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with more than two decades of experience caring for patients across a wide range of clinical settings. He completed his medical education in Cuba and later pursued residency training in Internal Medicine at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, where he earned recognition as an outstanding educator and clinician.
Since 2013, Dr. Vasallo has been part of the hospitalist team at University Medical Center of El Paso, providing comprehensive inpatient care with a focus on safety, communication, and evidence-based medicine. He has also served as a faculty member at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.
In addition to his hospital work, Dr. Vasallo is deeply involved in clinical research. As a Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator for numerous national and international studies, he has contributed to advancing treatments in kidney disease, heart failure, infectious diseases, autoimmune conditions, and metabolic disorders. His research involvement reflects his commitment to improving future therapies and bringing cutting-edge medical knowledge to the bedside.
